Industrial Pneumatic Tires

Continental Industrial Pneumatic Tires are Specialist Tires for Maximum Efficiency.

Providing a high level of comfort on all surfaces, they help to protect people, goods, and materials in a wide range of transporting and lifting tasks. The tire offers excellent ride characteristics, outstanding traction, and effortless handling. Continental’s Pneumatic Tires are therefore typically recommended for forklift trucks, trailers for in-plant applications, industrial tractors, airport apron vehicles, and heavy-duty transport vehicles.

The pneumatic range consists of the two construction types Pneumatic Radial Tires and Pneumatic Crossply Tires:

Radial Tires

  • High mileage
  • Enhanced ride comfort
  • Low rolling resistance
  • Very good traction
  • Electroconductive

Crossply Tires

  • Enhanced stability on paved ground
  • Resistant to sidewall damage
  • Good traction

A Radial Tire has a carcass of one or more layers made of fibers or steel running directly from bead to bead (radial). The tread is stabilized by steel belts. Continental’s Pneumatic Radial Tires ensure a high degree of comfort because of their flexible sidewalls. Their low rolling resistance will also help you to save energy. That’s why Radial Tires are ideal for outdoor application and long runs. They are mainly used on forklift trucks, heavy-duty transport vehicles, indoor service trailers, and platform trucks.

A Crossply Tire has a carcass comprising multiple layers of fabric. These run diagonally from one bead to the other. The tread and sidewall of a Crossply Tire are coupled to form a single unit. All shock absorbing movements of the sidewall are transferred into the tread. The contact patch width varies in size and shape according to the ground surface. In summary, Continental’s Pneumatic Crossply Tires are not only highly flexible, but also highly damage-resistant. These properties make Crossply Tires ideal for industrial tractors, airport vehicles, and self-powered lift vehicles.

Multi-Purpose Tires (MPT)

Continental Multi-Purpose Tires are a blend of industrial, agricultural, truck, and off-road tires combined into one single radial tire.

They are designed for mixed on-/off-road use, especially where conditions are particularly challenging. The flexible carcass and wide inflation pressure range allows for high-speed on-road and rough-ground off-road operations.

Continental MPT Tires exhibit outstanding traction and (non-)slipping properties on virtually any surface. These self-cleaning tires are ideal for snowy and icy conditions as well as sand, mud, and loamy soil. Additionally, Continentals MPTs allow you to carry heavy loads at highway speed thanks to the special steel-reinforced tread, strong sidewalls, and flexible carcass.

With their ability to cope with unpredictable operating conditions, they are commonly used on military, rescue, and multi-purpose vehicles. MPTs are also ideal for construction applications, road maintenance/clearance, and general usage such as small earth movers, pickup trucks, brushfighter trucks, compact wheel loaders, and other small construction machinery.

Solid Tires

Solid Tires are best for tough applications on slow vehicles or trailers with a high risk of impact and damage.

They are extremely stable, puncture-resistant, and maintenance-free. Solid Tires have a high loading capacity and are extremely economical. This makes them ideal for forklift trucks, airport vehicles, heavy-duty transport vehicles, platform trucks, and other industrial vehicles.

These tires are commonly used at airports and seaports, logistics centers, and industrial applications. Industries where a clean environment is of paramount importance (e.g. the food and pharmaceutical industry) can use the non-marking version (Clean Solid Tires). They are also highly stable, puncture-resistant and have a long service life. But additionally, they are especially designed for minimum floor marking in a clean industrial environment.

We offer two construction types: Super Elastic Tires and Press on Bands.

Continental Super Elastics (CSE)

  • Low maintenance
  • Long service life
  • Good tilting stability
  • Resistant to impact and cut damage

Press on Bands (POB)

  • Low maintenance
  • Excellent tilting stability
  • For high loads with small dimensions
  • Resistant to impact and cut damage

Continental Super Elastic (CSE) Tires are designed to fit on industrial pneumatic tire rims. They consist of a tread with a highly cut- and wear-resistant compound. The cushion compound with extreme low damping properties leads to low rolling resistance and low temperature generation. The base with embedded bead wires ensures optimum rim-fitting. The sidewall is equipped with a highly cut- and wear-resistant compound. These properties make CSE Tires ideal for forklifts (load and steering wheels) and short-distance transportation. Particularly in applications where tires are prone to cutting, Continental Super Elastic Tires are built to last.

Continental Elastic Press on Bands (POBs) are available in two versions: POB with steel base and POB with steel wire reinforcement.

With our Elastic steel-based Press on Bands we offer the most compact sizes for ultra-heavy loads. These tires consist of a steel ring with a vulcanized-on rubber cushion. This design provides good heat dissipation (via the steel ring) and maximum adhesion of rubber to steel. Even at full speed and under maximum load conditions, these steel-based POBs from Continental deliver outstanding mileage performance. The powerful steel ring means easy fitting. Moreover, steel-based POBs offer a high degree of protection for the sidewalls and rim.

Elastic Press on Bands with steel wire reinforcement have several wire cores. These wires are embedded in a tire base, which is made of a special tough, hard rubber compound. This tried-and-tested design permits remarkably high load capacities. Different base constructions of Continental POBs with steel wire reinforcement are also available: cylindrical, center-split and offset-split.

In summary, our highly damage-resistant and high-load-bearing Press on Bands are perfect for forklifts employed in the paper industry, trailers in seaports and also in areas where tires are at particular risk of cutting.
